Devin Bowen Named Assistant Coach

FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU men's tennis head coach David Roditi has announced the return of Horned Frog great Devin Bowen as assistant coach on the tennis staff.
Bowen, a TCU men's tennis student-athlete from 1991-94, comes to Fort Worth after spending over 12 years as a professional tennis player in the ATP.
"We are extremely fortunate to have Devin back at TCU," Roditi said. "When he played at TCU, he set the bar on how hard we could work and it won't be any different as a coach. He has accomplished a lot because of his hard work, discipline and passion, which will have a great influence on our players. Reaching the quarterfinals of the U.S. Open twice in his long and successful career in doubles is something to be very proud of.
"Devin is one of my best friends and I can't think of another person that could have a better influence for our players. We are lucky to have him here and our coaching staff is now complete, as he and Fernando (Sanchez) will help us get to the next level."
Bowen was an extremely successful doubles player on the professional circuit after turning pro in 1994, reaching a career-high doubles ranking of No. 39 in 2003. Bowen paired with Massimo Bertolini in 2001 to make his first quarterfinal appearance in the U.S. Open. He would prove to be successful for the second straight year by partnering up with Brando Coupe to make the quarterfinals at the U.S. Open in 2002.
Bowen played in all four Grand Slams and made it to the round of 32 at each event, including an appearance in the round of 16 at the Australian Open in 2002 and 2003 with former TCU standout Ashley Fisher. He garnered one doubles title with Fisher at Amersfoort in 2003 and was a finalist at four other events.
A member of the TCU men's tennis team from 1991-94 under the direction of Horned Frog legend Tut Bartzen, Bowen was a part of four straight NCAA tournament teams and has his named etched in the TCU record books. Bowen is ranked No. 7 in season singles victories (38), No. 5 in season doubles winning percentage (.818) and tied for No. 9 in career singles victories (111).
Bowen was a member of three SWC Tournament Championship teams, three SWC regular season titles, the 1992 team that made it the National Team Indoor Finals and the 1994 team that made it to the Elite 8 of the NCAA Championships. Bowen finished his collegiate career ranked No. 64 in singles in 1994.
