Men's Golf Makes Move in Second Round

MONTERREY, Calif. -- The TCU men's golf team moved up two spots and now sits just one shot off the lead with a combined 10-under par in Saturday's second round of the Carmel Cup at the Pebble Beach Golf Links.
The Frogs, who entered the day nine shots back of first-round leader Georgia, were 13-under par on the front nine to storm back into contention before settling at 10-under for the day.
TCU freshman James du Preez recorded his second consecutive round of 2-under 70 and is tied for fourth overall, while teammates Andrew Presley and Julien Brun are tied for ninth at 2-under par. Presley carded a 4-under par 68, while Brun posted a 1-under 71.
Du Preez recorded an eagle on the 511-yard par 5 second hole and then posted back-to-back birdies on six and seven to make the turn at 5-under. He had a pair of bogeys on the back nine.
Presley, who entered the day tied for 33rd, did all his damage on the front nine with birdies on 2, 3, 5 and 7.
Paul Barjon and Giulio Castagnara moved up the leaderboard by firing rounds of 2-under and 1-under, respectively.
TCU is tied with Texas Tech (711) while South Carolina is fourth (714) and Vanderbilt is fifth (717).
Final-round action gets underway at 9:10 a.m. CT.
