Men's Golf in Fourth at Pebble Beach

MONTEREY, Calif. - Three Horned Frogs fired sub-par rounds as the TCU men's golf team completed the opening 18 holes of the Carmel Cup on Friday afternoon in fourth overall at Pebble Beach Golf Links.
The Frogs carded a 1-over 361 in Friday's opening round to place in a tie for fourth with Arkansas, six strokes within second-place Texas Tech and nine behind the first-round leader, Georgia.
Sophomore Chelso Barrett and freshman James du Preez led TCU in the season debut with rounds of 2-under 70, placing the pair of Frogs in a tie for fifth overall.
Barrett collected four birdies against just two bogeys for his 13th-career round of par or better, while du Preez recorded a clean front nine with two birdies in his first collegiate action and rolled in another pair of birdies on the back nine.
Senior Julien Brun also closed the opening round inside the top 10 individually in ninth overall with a 1-under 71, marking the 84th round of his career at par or better.
Fellow senior Andrew Presley registered a solid round in his TCU debut with a 2-over 74. The Fort Worth native was plagued by two holes where he was 6-over, posting a clean round otherwise with four birdies.
Sophomore Giulio Castagnara and junior Paul Barjon rounded out the scoring with rounds of 76 and 77, respectively.
