After Kevin Cron was hit by a pitch, Oklahoma State starter Jon Perrin unleashed a wild pitch to put two runners in scoring position. Boomer White gave TCU a 1-0 lead with a single to right center. Derek Odell grounded out to drive in the second run of the inning and an error pushed the lead to three.
Oklahoma State threatened to climb back in the game in the bottom of the innig as it had runners on the corners with one out. A lead-off error and a one-out walk followed by a wild pitch aided the Cowboys push. Finnegan was equal to the task, getting a pair of strikeouts to end the inning.
The Cowboys broke up Finnegan's no-hitter with a lead-off double in the fourth. Zach Fish followed with an infield single, but the throw to first was in the dirt allowing Conor Costello to score to make it a 3-1 game. Another hit and a one-out walk loaded the bases. Keaton Jones made a running grab on a slow-roller to start an inning-ending double play to keep it a 3-1 game.
Finnegan got two quick outs in the fifth inning, but a two-out single from Donnie Walton spurred the Cowboys. Another hit and a walk followed to load the bases. Finnegan wiggled off the hook against, getting Tanner Krietemeier to line out to second to end the inning. The lineout started a string of seven straight retired by Finnegan to wrap up his outing.
The Frogs had a golden opportunity to stretch their lead in the ninth after a lead-off walk to Derek Odell. He was standing on third with one out, but the Cowboys pitched out of it with a foul out and a fly out to end the inning.
Oklahoma State put the tying run on base in the ninth with a lead-off walk and a one-out single. Ferrell got a ground ball for the second out and induced a pop up on the infield to end the game.
