AUSTIN, Texas -- TCU junior swimmer Cooper Robinson will close out competition in his first-ever appearance at the NCAA Championships at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center Saturday with the 200 backstroke."We are looking forward to watching him compete in the 200 back, which is his best event," TCU swimming coach Richard Sybesma said.
Robinson, who hails from Katy, Texas, finished 42nd in the preliminaries of the 100 back Friday with the time 47.86.
Saturday's preliminaries begin at 11 a.m., and the finals are set for 7 p.m.
Robinson earned the invitation to the championships in the 200 back (1:42.33). Although he was invited to the meet for the 200 back, Robinson also competed in the 100 back because of his NCAA B Cut qualifying times, Sybesma said.
Robinson is the school-record holder in the 100 back (46.94) and the 200 back (1:42.33).
