FORT WORTH, Texas - Football's Jaden Oberkrom and women's basketball's Zahna Medley have been named the TCU Scholar-Athletes of the Month for November for their work on and off the field.
Oberkrom began his November stretch with his first career game-winning field goal, a 37-yard boot as time expired to beat West Virginia 31-30. It capped a 13-point, second-half comeback for the Horned Frogs that also kept the team's Big 12 title hopes alive. The Arlington native made two field goals in each of the next three games to finish perfect in all seven field goal attempts for the month, with a long of 42 yards against Texas. He also converted all 19 of his PAT attempts.
Oberkrom, a psychology major, and the Horned Frogs will close the regular season on Saturday at home with Iowa State at 11 a.m.
On Nov. 19, Medley became the fastest Horned Frog in history to reach the 1,000-point milestone. She is TCU's top scorer on the season with 16.3 points per game and also boasts a team-high of 15 three-pointers made. Medley, a finance major, is second among Horned Frogs in free-throw percentage (84 percent) and assists (16). TCU is 5-2 on the year and is coming off an 82-68 win over Missouri State in Boulder, Colo., where Medley scored a season-high 29 points on 10-of-13 shooting.
Medley, who hails from Springfield, Ill., will return to action with the Horned Frogs on Sunday when No. 5 Texas A&M comes to town for a 1 p.m. tip-off.
