
Purple Evens Series With 10-4 Win

FORT WORTH - Purple used a four-run first inning and never looked back en route to a 10-4 victory, evening the annual Purple-White World Series at a game apiece.
Purple's Keaton Jones was the offensive star, going 3-for-4 with a double, a run scored and three RBIs. Hitting out of the lead-off spot, Derek Odell was 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
Austen Wade paced the White offense with two hits in three at-bats and drove in two. Connor Wanhanen and Elliott Barzilli also pitched in a pair of hits for the White squad.
Odell opened the game with a base hit and scored easily on a double from Keaton Jones to put Purple in front. Dane Steinhagen made it 2-0 with a base knock to right. A two-out error accounted for the final two runs in the inning.
Keaton Jones and Jeremie Fagnan made it a 6-0 contest with RBIs in the second inning. A Will Foreman home run to lead off the third pushed the lead to 7-0.
Facing an 8-0 hole, White cracked the scoreboard in the fourth inning. Nolan Brown's grounded out with runners on the corners pushed across the first run of the game for White. Wade's lead-off double in the fifth helped White pick up another run as he scored on an error for the second run of the game.
The teams traded runs in the sixth inning to make it a 9-4 contest. Keaton Jones' third hit of the game drove in Purple's ninth run, while Wade's bases-loaded single plated a pair of runs. Preston Templer minized the damage for Purple as he got a pair of strikeouts and a line-out to end the inning.
Connor Beck's seventh inning double capped the scoring for Purple.
Game three of the Purple-White World Series is set for Saturday beginning at Noon. Purple will send Mitchell Traver to the mound. He will face White's Alex Young.
