THE OPPONENT
TCU will meet Colorado State in Friday's opener and will face either Missouri State or Colorado on Saturday.
Colorado State is 2-1 this season with wins over Colorado School of Mines and Illinois State and a season-opening overtime loss to Hawaii. The Rams are averaging nearly 76 points per contest with 44.7 rebounds per game (plus-5.7 margin) and have four players currently scoring in double figures.
Missouri State is winless so far this season in four tries. The Lady Bears have averaged 51.0 points this season and are led by Kenzie Williams (14.3 ppg) and Liza Fruendt (12.3 ppg), while Hillary Chvatal is averaging 10.3 rebounds per contest.
Colorado enters this weekend with a 3-1 record, the lone loss coming to Western Kentucky in overtime. The Buffaloes are averaging 75.8 points (plus-11.8 margin) and 46.2 rebounds per contest (plus-6.5 margin), and have four players currently scoring in double figures.
THE SERIES
TCU and Colorado State will meet for the 18th time in the series, as the Horned Frogs hold a 13-4 advantage, including a 13-1 mark in Mountain West Conference contests. The two teams last met on Feb. 11, 2012, when the Rams stopped a 13-game skid against TCU with a 61-59 win.
The Frogs could potentially meet Colorado for the second time in the last five games, as TCU suffered a 78-71 loss to the Buffaloes in the opening round of the WNIT in Boulder last season. TCU is 0-4 all-time against Colorado and 0-3 in Boulder.
TCU has never met Missouri State on the hardwood.
UP NEXT
Following the OMNI Classic, the Horned Frogs return home where they will play all five of their contests in the month of December in the friendly confines of the University Recreation Center.
TCU kicks off December with a showdown against No. 7 Texas A&M at 1 p.m., on Dec. 7. Tickets will be available on a walk-up basis at the Recreation Center ticket window on game days.
LAST TIME OUT
TCU last played on Saturday in a 69-52 win over Texas Southern in Fort Worth.
Donielle Breaux (17), Natalie Ventress (13) and Zahna Medley (10) all scored in double figures to lead TCU to its third win of the season.
The Horned Frogs tallied 36 points off of 31 Texas Southern turnovers compared to just 11 TCU miscues.
PEBLEY RETURNS TO BOULDER
TCU head coach Raegan Pebley returns to her old stomping grounds this weekend at the OMNI Classic in Boulder, where she starred collegiately from 1993-97.
Pebley helped lead Colorado to a 106-24 record in her four seasons while reaching two Sweet 16's and an Elite Eight appearance. Pebley was one of nine players in Colorado history to score over 1,000 career points (1,045) and collect over 700 rebounds (701).
The Orem, Utah, native has only met her alma mater once on the hardwood as a head coach when she was at the helm of the Utah State program in 2005.
MEDLEY HITS MILESTONE
Junior guard Zahna Medley made history in TCU's win over SMU on Nov. 19, scoring 18 points to become the 14th member of TCU's 1,000-point club and the fastest in program history to reach the milestone.
The contest marked the second time Medley has reached a milestone against the Mustangs, as the Springfield, Ill., native tied a school record with nine 3-pointers in just her fourth collegiate game on Nov. 28, 2012.
A PRINCE EMERGES
Senior forward Chelsea Prince came into her own down the stretch last season and has carried that over into her final season in the Purple and White, averaging a near double-double with 10.5 points and 8.8 rebounds through the season's first four contests.
The Fort Worth native, who has started 20 straight contests, posted a career outing in TCU's 61-60 road win over No. 23 Iowa State last season with a then-career best 17 points. Prince entered the contest with career averages of 4.7 points and 3.2 rebounds and has averaged 10.4 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.6 steals in the 16 games since, including her first three-career double-doubles.
