Swimming and Diving Adds Four On Day Two

FORT WORTH, Texas – The TCU swimming and diving team announced the signings of four future Horned Frogs to National Letters of Intent on Thursday, bringing the total to 11 so far during the fall signing period.
The signees include: Heyward Brown, Catherine Maxey, Jack McLaughlin and Jessica Short.
Brown, a native of Greenville, S.C., competes primarily in the distance free, fly and IM events. His top times include: 4:33.97 (500 free), 9:17.13 (1000 free) and 15:39.32 (1650 free). Brown is rated as the No. 4 swimmer in the state of South Carolina by CollegeSwimming.com.
“I choose TCU because of the excellent coaching staff and because of the close knit team,” Heyward said. “I also choose TCU because of its outstanding academics. I look forward to bettering myself both in and out of the pool. Go Frogs!”
Maxey, a freestyle and butterfly competitor from Charlotte, N.C., swims for Providence High School and Swim Mac. Her personal-bests in 200 free and 500 free are 1:51.67 and 4:59.43, respectively, as well as 56.22 in the 100 fly and 2:02.93 in the 200 fly. She ranks 18th in the state of North Carolina by CollegeSwimming.com.
McLaughlin is a sprint freestyler and butterfly swimmer from Corpus Christi. His top times include: 21.28 (50 free), 46.28 (100 free), 1:40.56 (200 free), 50.49 (100 fly) and 1:54.3 (200 fly). McLaughlin is the No. 15 swimmer in the state of Texas, according to CollegeSwimming.com.
“The school, coaches and swimming program are excellent and it was just a natural fit for what I was looking for in a college experience and a Division-I swim team,” McLaughlin said.
Short, a native of Grafton, Wis., primarily competes in the backstroke, but also in the free and IM events. Her personal-bests are 24.22 in the 50 free, 51.80 in the 100 free, 2:06.00 in the 200 IM, 56.68 in the 100 back and 2:00.51 in the 200 back. She ranks ninth in the state of Wisconsin by CollegeSwimming.com.
