WELCOME DISNEY
We appreciated a return trip to campus Tuesday by the Disney Institute. As you might know, Disney sets the standard for customer service and works with professional sports franchises as well as collegiate athletics programs. Our Management Team in athletics as well as representatives from CSC and Sodexo met to discuss ways to enhance your experiences with TCU, especially when coming to Amon G. Carter Stadium this fall.
COLLEGE COLORS DAY
We appreciate all of you who have been casting the votes to make us No. 1 in the College Colors Day spirit competition. By visiting Facebook, Horned Frogs fans can register to vote daily for TCU as the school with the most college spirit and loyal fan base. Make sure to wear your purple on Aug. 30 for College Colors Day!
BIG 12 CORNER
Since it began competition in 1996-97, the Big 12 Conference has seen its members win 52 NCAA team titles and 537 individual national championships.
ON THE DOCKET
Our athletics season is truly just around the corner. If you're in the campus area on Saturday at 5 p.m., drop by the Rec Center for our volleyball team's Purple and White scrimmage. Admission is free. Mark your calendar for next Saturday, Aug. 24, when we hold our football program's annual Meet The Frogs from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. in the Sam Baugh Indoor Practice Facility.
OPEN HOUSE
It was great seeing many of you at our soccer program's Open House on Sunday at the Jane Justin Field House and Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium. Make sure to check out the following video for a preview of their upcoming season: Click Here.
WEDDING BELLS
Congratulations to men's tennis head coach David Roditi and women's golf assistant coach Lori (Sutherland) Roditi on tying the knot July 27 in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. As the saying goes, David Roditi definitely outkicked his coverage.
MEET THE STAFF
Lauren Crawford is in her seventh year at TCU as an assistant athletic trainer. She works directly with our volleyball and men's tennis programs while also serving as the assistant manager of our Gatorade Youth Summer Sports Camps. A native of Gilbert, Ariz., Lauren received both her bachelor's and master's degrees at Northern Arizona University. In her spare time, Lauren enjoys going for runs on the river with her dog Charlie.
WHERE ARE THEY NOW?
You might remember twin brothers Terrence and Tim Maiden playing football for TCU in the late 1990s. Terrence was a linebacker, while Tim was a receiver. They were instrumental in leading the Horned Frogs to a pair of conference championships. Terrence currently serves as executive vice president for Corinth Properties, a regional retail development company based in Dallas. Tim is vice president of lending and DFW regional special assets manager for First National Bank of Edinburg. On the side, Terrence and Tim have teamed to help kids have a chance to reach their goals. They have co-founded Two-Wins Foundation (www.two-wins.org), a non-profit organization, as a way of giving back to inner-city communities across DFW. Two-Wins Foundation works to inspire youth to achieve a higher education through creative programs and addressing economic challenges.
SPANNING THE GLOBE
In this week's edition of the Horned Frogs Nation showing their pride from all points worldwide, we see TCU graduates Marlon Figueroa and Jake Wesley at the Running of the Bulls in Pamplona, Spain. If you have some great images to share, please send them my way (delconte@tcu.edu).
NAME THE MOVIE QUOTE
Last Week's Answer: They were referencing a young Patrick Dempsey, playing Ronald "The Ronster" Miller, in Can't Buy Me Love with the iconic line of, "He went from totally geek to totally chic!"
This Week's Quote: "There are no tags on these mattresses." Make sure to check back next week for the answer.
