Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Chris Del Conte chats live Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. CT. Fans are encouraged to submit their questions now.
| TCU Moderator: Welcome to today's online chat with TCU director of intercollegiate athletics Chris Del Conte. We'll begin shortly. |
| Manu (San Antonio): Did you watch our game last night against Miami? |
Chris Del Conte: Unfortunately, I missed it as I was supervising my daughters and their friends in the pool. Good luck tomorrow night! |
| gary Yeager (Aledo): What's your No. 1 project for the summer? |
Chris Del Conte: Our No. 1 project is finishing raising the funds for Daniel-Meyer Coliseum. Care to make a donation? |
| Chris (DFW): How is DMC fundraising going? |
Chris Del Conte: Fantastic! |
| Tommy G. (Fort Worth, TX): Have football season tickets sold out again? |
Chris Del Conte: We have less than 500 remaining and expect to be sold out by the time the season starts. |
| lance (Keller): How do you allocate our Big 12 money received? |
Chris Del Conte: Those funds are allocated to support our athletics program and the entire enterprise, from budgets to salaries and operating expenses. |
| Tony: What happened at the Florida convention? We hear you were awsome when u spoke? |
Chris Del Conte: It must have been a slow morning for the attendees. |
| Keith (Fort Worth): Happy Birthday Mr. Del Conte!. . . .PS: TCU really needs a full-time sports photographer. |
Chris Del Conte: Thanks for the birthday shout out. I'll let Mark Cohen know that you are available for any photo needs. |
| James (Arlington, TX): Will football season tickets, TCU/LSU tickets, TCU parking passes, and Cowboys Stadium parking passes ALL be mailed to us in the same packet? Approximately when will we receive them? |
Chris Del Conte: Season tickets and parking will arrive in the same packet in mid-August. Tickets for the Cowboys Classic and parking for that game will arrive together, but separate from your season packet. |
| Jeff (League City): What would you think about getting with our friends at DFW airport and setting up a Big 12/TCU plaza in one of the domestic terminals? Maybe a frog statue encircled by the other Big 12 school flags. I would donate to that cause to help set the purple tone upon arrival. OKC airport does a great job for OU and OSU arrivals. It would be good for the casual fan to learn whose turf he just landed in. |
Chris Del Conte: That's a great suggestion, and I will inquire about the possibilities. |
| Rhino: Any birthday plans? |
Chris Del Conte: Today's online chat and spending time with my wife and kids. |
| Norman OK: Does TCU expect to start up a women's college softball program? This would be another sport that they can compete in the Big 12 with. |
Chris Del Conte: As we've mentioned before, we're in the process of reviewing our entire athletics program. That includes what possible new sports would be the best fit for us. |
| James (FW): Nike has designed some great uniforms for TCU football in the past few years. Will we see anything particularly new/different this year? Maybe something different for the opener against LSU? |
Chris Del Conte: Nike is a great partner of ours and you never know what they have in store for the Frogs. |
| James (FW): Looking forward to non-conference football series with Minnesota, Arkansas, and Ohio State over the next six years. Is the SMU series continuing, and are there other non-conference games set? |
Chris Del Conte: We're very excited about our non-conference schedules in the coming years and look forward to competing for Big 12 championships. |
| Richard: That Spurs loss last night was a punch to the gut. What's the worst loss for one of your teams that you remember? |
Chris Del Conte: When I was at Arizona, we lost a 19-point lead with 4 minutes to play against Illinois for the right to go to the Final Four. |
| Michael: Mr. Del Conte, I created a survey to help analyze some of the fans' opinions on topics regarding the athletic department. Can you endorse this and I plan on sending you the results? http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/8QW953Z |
Chris Del Conte: I can't endorse a survey without seeing it first, but I look forward to receiving your results. |
| Eric (Kalispell, MT): Chris, any word from ESPN about a College Game Day appearance verses LSU? |
Chris Del Conte: We haven't heard anything yet, but we're on the radar. |
| Brad (FTW): The Star-Telegram article was fantastic - it is apparent you were "raised right". Are you comfortable with such in-depth interviews? |
Chris Del Conte: i'm never comfortable with an interview about me, but it was a great tribute to my father. |
| Geno (Plainview): Do you have a favorite MLB team and if so, who? |
Chris Del Conte: I don't keep tabs on pro sports very closely today. I am a product of the 70s and hate to admit that I was a bandwagon fan, so I followed all the winning teams back then -- the Yankees, 76ers and Cowboys. I would go from being Goose Gossage to Dr. J to Roger Staubach. |
| Tony (Sherman): You're working this time of year? I thought school employees got summers off. |
Chris Del Conte: TCU Athletics is a 365 day a year job. |
| Aquaman: If you could be a superhero, who would you be? (You can't be me, I am me). |
Chris Del Conte: You are perhaps my favorite Superhero, Aquaman. |
| Greg (Austin): Chris, what are your thoughts on Ted Cruz? |
Chris Del Conte: This is not a forum to discuss politics, but I do appreciate all those who serve the great state of Texas. |
| Eric (Fairplay, Colo.): How does it feel to be home to the fastest man in the NCAA? Also, how many seconds would you finish behind him in a 100-meter dash? |
Chris Del Conte: I must admit that by the time Charles Silmon crossed the finish line, I'd just be getting out of the blocks. Charles did the Flyin' Frogs proud by winning the national championship with a time of 9.89. |
| Pat (Arlington, Tx): Do you have a contact email and phone number for the TCU cheerleader sponsor? I would like to talk with her...some ideas I have on how to get the upper deck fans involved in the "GO.....FROGS" cheer, etc. |
Chris Del Conte: Lindsay Westbrook is our spirit coordinator. Her email is l.m.westbrook@tcu.edu for any suggestions you might have. |
| Zdeno (Beantown): Bruins or Blackhawks for the Stanley Cup? |
Chris Del Conte: Mr. Chara, you're 2 wins away from your goal. |
| Jay (Ft Worth): Why do we schedule football games at 11:00 am in September? I know TV has a lot to do with it, but when do you consider your fans in seats comfort and enjoyment of game? Too dang hot....anyway, GO FROGS!! |
Chris Del Conte: I do understand your concern about the heat. However, when we joined the Big 12, part of our membership commitment includes working with our TV partners in the scheduling of our football kickoff times. |
| TCU Moderator: That concludes today's online chat with TCU director of intercollegiate athletics Chris Del Conte. Thanks for joining us, and we'll talk again next month. |
