WILMINGTON, Del. - TCU All-American Julien Brun made his second career appearance at the Palmer Cup over the past weekend, competing for Team Europe at Wilmington Golf Club.
An international competition between college stars from the United States and Europe, the Palmer Cup features a format similar to the Ryder Cup pitting players on the two teams against each other in match play. The event's four-round format featured a pair of singles matches in addition to one round each of four-ball competition and foursome play.
Team USA finished the weekend as the event's champion, posting a 20.5-9.5 victory to reclaim the Palmer Cup and improve to 9-7-1 all-time in the competition. The Europeans won the tournament last year in Scotland with a furious rally that included the largest final-round comeback in the history of the event, but the squad was unable to pull off a similar feat this year.
TCU continues its summer on the amateur circuit next week at the British Amateur Championship at Royal Cinque Ports Golf Club in Deal, England. Three members of next year's team have been accepted into the field in Brun, Paul Barjon and Italian incoming freshman Giulio Castagnara, as have 2013 seniors Pontus Gad and Daniel Jennevret, who was the event's top medalist last summer.
