Chappell, Smith named Athletes of the Week

FORT WORTH- Nick Chappell of men's tennis and Megan Smith of track and field were named TCU Athletes of the Week for their performances last week.
Chappell defeated two top-60 opponents in singles this week. The sophomore beat No. 34 Winston Liu of Colombia in two sets (6-3, 7-5) for his first win against a ranked opponent this season; this win would also secure the team's win against Columbia. On Sunday, he bettered No. 57 Ben McLachlan of California 6-0, 6-3.
Smith broke a school record and threw two career-high throws in the UTA Invitational over the weekend. She broke the school's record with a 165-1 (50.33m) in discus and placed second in the event. The sophomore continued her shot put success this season by winning the event with a throw of 53-5 (16.28m). This broke her career high throw of 52-10 (15.88m).
The men's tennis team will take the court tonight at 5:30 p.m. against San Diego. Smith will compete in the Texas Relays starting March 28 in Austin.
