
Echols-Luper Tabbed Freshman All-American

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- TCU punt returner Cameron Echols-Luper has been named a second-team Freshman All-American by Phil Steele Publications.
Echols-Luper ranked third in the Big 12 and 16th nationally with his team-best 13.4 yards per return. The Auburn, Ala., native had season-long punt returns of 51 yards versus SMU and 41 yards against Baylor.
Echols-Luper added four receptions at wide receiver and was 2-of-2 passing for 49 yards, including a 38-yard touchdown toss against Texas.
Phil Steele Publications also tabbed TCU cornerback Jason Verrett as a second-team All-American and first-team All-Big 12 selection.
Receiving second-team All-Big 12 accolades were safety Sam Carter and kickoff returner B.J. Catalon. Defensive tackle Chucky Hunter and placekicker Jaden Oberkrom were named third-team All-Big 12.
