FORT WORTH, Texas - With the opening of the 2012 football season next weekend, GoFrogs.com reviews the No. 2 game in Amon G. Carter Stadium history.
The top 12 games all-time will be counted down leading up to next Saturday's season opener with Grambling State, so fans are encouraged to check back often. Please note that selected games have been looked at significantly over the last couple of months and were chosen by members of the TCU media relations staff.
FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU and Baylor squared off in what was not only a major conference game, but also a battle of two of the country's top quarterbacks.
Davey O'Brien, who would go on to win the Heisman Trophy, led the Horned Frogs against the Bears' "Bullet Bill" Patterson with hopes of avenging a 6-0 loss the year before. TCU appeared nervous in the first half, but still led 13-7 heading into the locker room. TCU head coach Dutch Meyer gave it his all in his halftime speech, furiously motivating his team into realizing the magnitude of the game.
The Horned Frogs then outscored Baylor 26-0 in the second half to win 39-7, highlighted by three O'Brien scoring tosses.
Fullback Connie Sparks added three touchdowns on the ground, and running back Earl Clark made several great runs to expose the Bear defense. With the win, TCU moved to No. 2 in the national rankings, eventually claiming the top spot a week later.
