No. 3: Horned Frogs Shut Down Texas Tech

FORT WORTH, Texas - With the opening of the 2012 football season only a few weeks away, GoFrogs.com reviews the No. 3 game in Amon G. Carter Stadium history.
The top 12 games all-time will be counted down leading up to the Sept. 8 season opener with Grambling State, so fans are encouraged to check back often. Please note that selected games have been looked at significantly over the last couple of months and were chosen by members of the TCU media relations staff.
Two years prior, TCU was throttled 70-35 in Lubbock, but an 11-1 season in 2005 and 2-0 record heading into the contest had the Horned Frogs motivated to erase the memory.
Chris Manfredini first drilled a 30-yard field goal with 4:11 remaining in the first quarter, and it would set the tone for what was to come.
The Red Raiders' Alex Trlica answered with a kick of his own three minutes later to tie the game, but Manfredini nailed field goals of 33, 34 and 23 yards in each of the next three quarters to solidify the victory.
The Horned Frogs had no worries of a Tech comeback, as the Red Raiders were held to 242 yards of offense. TCU also stifled two Red Raider fourth-down conversion attempts, recovered two fumbles after sacks of quarterback Graham Harrell and blocked a punt.
It was Texas Tech's first time not scoring a touchdown since 2000, a span of 79 games, and first time scoring under 10 points since 2001. It was TCU's 13th victory in a row for the nation's longest winning streak at the time and its fourth straight decision over a Big 12 opponent.
