The home run was the first for the Horned Frogs since Josh Elander's sixth inning blast against Oklahoma State on March 2.
Coats tallied his second career multi-home run game of the season as he hit a three-run shot in the eighth. His last multi-home run game came on April 11, 2010 when he hit three home runs at Houston. The home runs were the 28th and 29th of his career.
The three-run blast was the first non-solo home run of the season for the Horned Frogs.
Coats added five RBIs in the game, giving him 171 for his career and moving him into third all-time on the career charts, passing Chad Huffman's career total of 168 career RBIs.
Additionally, his two hits give him 260 for his career, moving him into sole possession of fifth all-time, passing Sam Lunsford's career total of 259.
Josh Elander stretched his hitting streak to six games.
The TCU bullpen has now tossed 20 2/3 scoreless innings over the last four games.
