FORT WORTH - Natalie Ventress of TCU's women's basketball team and Mitch Adshead of Horned Frog's swimming and diving squad have been named TCU Athletes of the Week.
Ventress contributed to a rivalry win over SMU with 14 points and a perfect 8-for-8 from the charity stripe. She also came up big on Sunday leading all scorers with 17 points and grabbing a career-high nine boards in the Frogs' win over Houston. Her performances helped advanced the Frogs to 3-2 on the early season.
Adshead earned NCAA 'B' qualifying standards at the USA Swimming Winter National Championships at the Texas Swimming Center with a career-best in the 400 IM. His 3:51.78 performance placed him at second all-time in the TCU history books and 11th overall for the event. The swimmer also had a great showing in the 200 breaststroke prelims by recording a 2:02:06. The sophomore ranks second in the Big 12 in the 200 breast and 400 IM, and is in the top-30 nationally in the 400 IM.
Women's basketball hosts UTSA tonight at 7 p.m. Swimming and diving returns to action at the Incarnate World Christmas Invitational in San Antonio on Dec. 15-17.
