
TCU To Open Road Swing At Red Raider Classic

FORT WORTH, Texas -- The TCU women's soccer team will hit the road this weekend, traveling to Lubbock, Texas to take part in the 2011 Red Raider Classic at John Walker Soccer Complex on the campus of Texas Tech University. The Horned Frogs will take the field against Toledo at 5 p.m., Friday, before challenging Hofstra at 10 a.m., Sunday.

SCOUTING TOLEDO
The Rockets return eight of its top 10 scorers from a 2010 squad that posted a 15-4-2 overall mark, including a 10-1-0 Mid-American Conference record, en route to capturing a share of its second league regular-season crown in the last three seasons. Toledo is the pre-season favorite to capture the 2011 Mid-American Conference's West Division and Tournament title, according to league's coaches' poll.
Toledo enters the weekend with wins in its last two outings and sporting a 2-2-1 overall record. after earning wins it its last two outings against IPFW and Niagara. Senior Kristen Lynn tied a school record with four goals and sophomore Rachel MacLeod added a score with two assists to lead the Rockets to a 5-2 victory over Niagara on Sept. 2.
SCOUTING HOFSTRA
Hofstra is coming off the greatest season in school history, when it set program records for wins (19), consecutive wins (18) and conference wins (11). The Pride finished a perfect 11-0 in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) during the regular season, the conference's first unbeaten and untied season since William & Mary was 8-0 in 1998. The 18-straight wins also tied for the third-longest single-season streak in Hofstra history in any sport.
The Pride boast a 2-1 record, including a pair of wins at the New York City Classic over Columbia and Albany. Senior forward Laura Greene was named the CAA Women's Soccer Player of the Week after being named the Offensive MVP of the New York City Classic, scoring four goals and leading Hofstra to the team title.

GARCIA GARNERS MW WEEKLY HONORS
Senior midfielder Kaylie Garcia was named Mountain West Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for her performance in the Frogs' 3-1 win at Texas State. In her second game back from the World University Games, the Oklahoma City product tallied a goal and an assist, while also pacing the Horned Frogs with three shots on goal.
LAST TIME OUT: VS. MISSOURI AT HOME
In a tough and physical matchup, TCU dropped a 2-0 decision to Missouri Sunday in front of a crowd of 1,469 spectators at Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium. With the winds gusty up to 30 miles per hour, the Tigers edged out TCU in the shooting spree, 19-16. The Horned Frogs had opportunities to light up the scoreboard, but Missouri's backline and goalkeeper kept the Purple and White scoreless. Junior Monica Alvarado paced TCU with four shots total, while sophomore Brittany Slyman tallied two of her three strikes on goal. Missouri netted a goal in each period.
KEEPING IT SAFE
True freshman goalkeeper Alicen Wright has been impressive between the pipes for the Horned Frogs in her first collegiate season. The Chino Hills, Calif., native currently paces the Mountain West in saves (37) and save percentage (.881). Through the first five matches of the season, Wright is averaging 1.00 goal and 7.40 stops per match.
