FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU cross country program will compete in the 75th running of the Cowboy Jamboree this weekend in Stillwater, Okla.
The Cowboy Jamboree, which is the oldest cross country meet in the nation, will be run at the OSU Cross Country Course. It will begin at 8 a.m. with the Women's JUCO/College 5,000-meter race, followed by the Men's JUCO/College 8,000 meter race at 8:35 a.m. The University groups, featuring the Horned Frogs, will begin with the Women's 6,000-meter race at 9:15 a.m., followed by the Men's 8,000-meter race at 9:45 a.m.
This year's Jamboree features 1,231 runners from more than 90 teams competing in the Men's and Women's University and College groups.
TCU is competing for the first time since the UTA Season Opener on Sept. 10. Overall, the Frogs' women tallied 43 points, finishing second overall behind regionally-ranked SMU (38 points), but concluding the meet ahead of Baylor (52 points), UTA (76) and Northwood (138 points). The men's team earned third place honors with 52 points, while Baylor won the overall team title with 19 points.
On the women's side, junior Agnes Kemboi paced the Frogs with a two-mile time of 10:56 at the UTA meet. The Kenya native earned second-place honors for the second race in a row. Kemboi came into the meet after accepting Mountain West Athlete of the Week accolades at the North Texas Metroplex Opener on Sept. 1.
Junior Daniel Ludwig and freshman Preston Newsome have been standouts on the men's squad this fall. Ludwig paced the field at the UNT meet, while Newsome has been consistent for the Frogs during his first year on campus.
