Frogs in Contention at The McLaughlin

FARMINGDALE, N.Y.—Three Horned Frogs played in red figures during the first two rounds of action Friday, helping the TCU men's golf team claim sole possession of second place entering Saturday's final round at The McLaughlin tournament held at Bethpage Red Course.
Junior Daniel Jennevret and freshman Julien Brun own a share of fourth place, as both finished the day -4. Brun posted respective scores of 69 and 67 in the first two rounds to remain sharp following his first collegiate victory two weeks ago in Verona, N.Y. Jennevret fired an even-under par 70 in the first round before recording a 4-under 66 for TCU's low individual score of the tournament thus far.
Brun and Jennevret will enter the final round seven shots behind West Florida's Carlos Rodriguez, who leads the tournament by six strokes at -11. Rodriguez, along with second-place teammate Thomas Guste-Pedersen, helped give West Florida a five-shot cushion over TCU entering Saturday.
Joining Brun and Jennevret below par for TCU was senior Johan de Beer, who shook off a 2-over opening round of 72 with a second-round 67 to climb into a tie for 28th place. Junior Pontus Gad and sophomore Ian Phillips are among a group of nine players tied for 30th place at +4.
TCU concludes competition at Bethpage Red on Saturday. The first groups are scheduled to start play at 7:30 a.m. ET.
