FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU baseball team will kick off preparations for the 2012 campaign Sunday morning with the opening of fall camp. Fall practice will consist of 29 practices, running through Oct. 31 and will be highlighted by a scrimmage against Sam Houston State on Oct. 29 at 1 p.m.
"With the NCAA rules allowing us extra practice time prior to our trip to the Dominican Republic at Thanksgiving, we have decided to get on the field earlier in the fall than we had planned in order to learn as much about our team as we can and begin the process of getting many of these young players prepared for the upcoming season," remarked head coach Jim Schlossnagle.
The Horned Frogs are coming off their fifth straight 40-win season and their sixth straight Mountain West regular season crown. TCU boasts 17 returners from last season's 43-19 team that hosted an NCAA Regional for the third straight year. In addition, the squad will welcome 18 newcomers to the team.
The team will practice approximately five days per week with weekday practices beginning at 2:15 p.m. Weekend practices times are TBA due to the TCU home football schedule. All intrasquad games are open to the public. To confirm practice times, please call Meredith Montgomery, Director of Baseball Operations, at 817-257-5155.
