FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU women's soccer team took a break from the sweltering summer heat of training camp to enjoy the FC Barcelona-Club America game at Cowboys Stadium this weekend.
After a Saturday morning practice at Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium, the team headed to the home of the Dallas Cowboys to watch the two international programs square-off as part of the 2011 World Football Challenge. FC Barcelona claimed the friendly by the score of 2-0, receiving goals from David Villa and Seydou Keita.
The World Football Challenge is a friendly tournament featuring top club teams from European leagues, Major League Soccer and Mexico's first division. England's F.C. Chelsea claimed the tournament title in the inaugural 2009 season and Spain's Real Madrid garnered the crown in 2011. The WFC did not compete in 2010 due to the FIFA World Cup.
TCU opens the regular season on Aug. 19 at Oklahoma State. The home opener is set for Aug. 21 with the Frogs playing host to Lamar at 1 p.m.
