FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU cross country program will begin the 2011 season Thursday at the North Texas Metroplex Opener in Denton.
Start time for the women's 4k race is set for 7:00 p.m., while the men's 6k race will follow directly after at the North Texas Cross Country Course, located behind the Waranch Tennis Complex. The meet will feature athletes from TCU, SMU, Dallas Baptist, Texas Wesleyan and host North Texas.
The Horned Frogs return many key distance runners from a 2010 squad, including Kelly Dawson, Tricia Terry and Agnes Kemboi on the women's side. The Frogs will also welcome back junior Dave Emerson and sophomore Jake Rossmango on the men's squad. Overall, TCU returns 11 runners from last season, while welcoming 16 new faces to the program.
Thursday's meet will be the first action for cross country coach Liz Wort. The former Duke standout was named head cross country coach and assistant track & field coach earlier in the month.
