FORT WORTH, Texas - With fall camp winding down, the TCU volleyball team will get the season going Saturday afternoon when they host the Alumni. 14 former Horned Frogs will return to the gym for a match slated to begin at 1 p.m. at the University Rec Center.
The Horned Frogs are coming off an injury-plagued 2010 campaign and are looking forward to the healthy return of 2009 AVCA honorable mention All-American setter Megan Munce and libero Sarah Joeckel. The duo suffered season-ending injuries early in the year and are ready to get back on the court. 2010 all-conference performers Irene Hester and Christy Hudson have left holes in the lineup, but the influx of six talented newcomers should see the Frogs carry on without missing a beat.
TCU was recently picked to finish fourth in the Mountain West Conference in a poll of all eight MW coaches. Munce was tabbed the preseason Setter of the Year, while Kristen Hester was part of the six-person preseason all-conference squad.
The 2011 regular season officially gets underway on Friday, Aug. 26 when the Frogs host the TCU Invitational. TCU will square off against Texas Tech at 7 p.m. at the University Rec Center.
