PRIORITY POINTS UPDATE
We very much apologize for last week's Horned Frog Priority Points email system programming error. Updated information will be sent today to all points holders with directions to access their points and ranking.
CHECK THE MAILBOX
The packet to club seat depositors is printed and will be mailed today as well. Also coming shortly will be our 2010-11 Annual Report, summarizing our athletics highlights and financial information from the past athletics year.
TICKET INFORMATION
Due to the popularity of our football season tickets, our updated record-breaking total is now at 19,800, single-game seats for home games will not be available until Aug. 15. Tickets for road games will still go on sale Monday, Aug. 1.
PARKING AVAILABLE
As a reminder, a very limited amount of donor parking spaces remain available. Please don't hesitate in contacting our Frog Club office at (817) 257-7700 if you are interested.
NEWPORT BOUND
I'll be headed to Newport, R.I., next week for the BIG EAST Conference meetings. In between discussions with my colleagues and, of course, a clambake, I look forward to keeping all of you informed on the happenings with our future conference brethren.
MEET THE FROGS
Several of you have asked when our annual Meet The Frogs will be held. Please mark your calendar for Saturday, Aug. 20, from noon to 2 p.m. in Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.
MEDIA DAYS
Gary Patterson and student-athletes Josh Boyce and Tank Carder are in Las Vegas for Mountain West Conference Media Days. We hope you've enjoyed the coverage on GoFrogs.com. Reporting Day is next Wednesday, Aug. 3, for our football team with the first practice on Aug. 4. It's definitely here!
ALUMNI WATCH
With the NFL lockout over, it's been great to see the tremendous interest in the undrafted free-agent signings of our former Frogs. To date, we've had six seniors from our 2010 team get picked up. Along with our five draft picks, that makes 11 members of last year's senior class headed to NFL camps. It's a great statement to the job done by our football coaches as well as our strength and conditioning and sports medicine staffs in preparing our student-athletes for the next level.
COMPLIANCE CORNER
The mix of student-athletes and the cars they drive have long been a source of NCAA violations and investigations. TCU, like most athletic departments across the country, tracks student-athletes' cars by collecting copies of car titles and reviewing purchaser information. In addition to knowing what cars our student-athletes own, it is also important to monitor two other NCAA rules involving cars: 1.) Use of a Car — In certain situations, an NCAA violation occurs when a student-athlete is allowed to drive a car they do not own. "Borrowing" a car or driving a loaner temporarily can reach the level of a violation if that car was provided to the student-athlete because of their athletics reputation. In other words, a car is loaned to the student-athlete and would not have been loaned to a non student-athlete or was loaned at a discounted price. Because of this "use of car" rule, our NCAA Compliance office monitors not only what cars student-athletes own and drive everyday, but also the cars they drive on a temporary basis. 2.) Rides for Student-Athletes — Per NCAA rules, TCU staff members and boosters are prohibited from providing rides and transportation to student-athletes. The only exceptions to this general rule are cases of emergency and cases where a student-athlete receives a ride from a staff member to attend a TCU function (e.g., occasional meal, dinner with official visitor) or promotional event (e.g., video shoot, visit to a children's hospital).
