PRIORITY POINTS UPDATE
For those of you looking for your new ranking in the Horned Frog Priority Points System, it will be ready any day now. Our Frog Club staff is working very hard to make sure all calculations are in order.
SEASON-TICKET UPDATE
We continue to make great progress towards our goal of 25,000 football season tickets sold. To date, we're at 19,400. It's incredible to think our total was 14,300 at this time last year when we set the previous mark of 19,143. We expect to be over 20,000 sold by week's end. If you include the students, we're technically past 25,000 for a stadium that will only seat 32,000 this fall. This truly defines the momentum and excitement in our football program.
PARKING AVAILABLE
We still have a few donor parking spaces left. If interested, please don't delay. Call the Frog Club office immediately at (817) 257-7700 and get yours before they're gone.
ONLINE CHAT
I really have fun with our monthly online chats on GoFrogs.com and hope you do as well. The questions are great. I'm just sorry we simply can't get to every one. We chatted for 45 minutes Monday and did our best to try to work through the over 100 questions submitted.
WOMEN'S CLINIC
Thursday's TCU Football Women's Clinic is sold out. We hope you were able to get your tickets in advance for this great event that benefits our Project Purple program.
MARKETING THE FROGS
Between billboards, bus wraps, print ads, posters and other pieces, our goal has been to blanket Tarrant County and the entire Metroplex with our promotional elements. From the comments we've heard, the billboards have proven to be extremely popular. We have had 20 billboards across Tarrant County as well as surrounding areas in Aledo, Dallas and Weatherford.
PURPLE FEVER
We ranked 40th nationally this past year in collegiate licensing revenue, moving up from No. 52 last year. This is amazing considering we only have 78,000 living alumni. We look forward to continuing to climb the charts next year.
CONGRATULATIONS
Chris Hall, our director of sports medicine, is one of the true veterans in our department. He's in his 27th year at TCU. Only associate athletics directors Ross Bailey and Jack Hesselbrock, business manager Tommy Love, men's golf coach Bill Montigel and swimming and diving head coach Richard Sybesma have him beat. That's exclusive company. A special tip of the cap goes to Chris on a recent honor. He's been elected to serve as president of District 6 of the National Athletic Trainers Association. This is comprised of all practicing 2,200 athletic trainers within the states of Texas and Arkansas. This is wonderful recognition of Chris by his peers. Chris is not the first Horned Frog to hold office in the profession of athletic training. From his days in the training room, Ross is also a past president of District 6. Congratulations to Chris on representing TCU so well. We are very proud of him.
THANKS AND BEST WISHES
Speaking of loyal Horned Frogs, we wish the best to Tricia Payne who is leaving our women's basketball coaching staff to enter private business. Tricia was the first former player under Jeff Mittie to be hired onto his staff. Tricia first came to TCU as a student-athlete in 1998. Except for one year coaching high school ball, Tricia has been a key part of our women's basketball program for 13 seasons. In three different capacities, as a player, director of operations and assistant coach, she has been a part of all but one of the 11 postseason appearances in our women's basketball history.
BIG EAST MEETINGS
A popular question I always receive, including during Monday's chat, is what our football schedule will look like the first season in the BIG EAST Conference. For example, who's coming to Amon G. Carter Stadium our first year in the league? I'll be heading to Newport, R.I., next week for conference meetings and could possibly have an answer. In both men's and women's basketball, we will play each BIG EAST school once while facing two opponents twice.
COMPLIANCE CORNER
If a student-athlete's name or picture appears on commercial items (e.g., t-shirts, sweatshirts, playing cards, posters, photographs) or is used to promote a commercial product sold by an individual or agency without the student-athlete's knowledge or permission, the student-athlete (or the institution acting on behalf of the student-athlete) is required to take steps to stop such an activity in order to retain his or her eligibility for intercollegiate athletics. A student-athlete will lose his/her eligibility for participation in intercollegiate athletics if the individual: (a.) Permits the use of his or her name or picture to advertise, recommend or promote directly the sale or use of a commercial product or service of any kind regardless of whether any compensation was received; or (b.) Receives remuneration for endorsing a commercial product or service through the individual's use of such product or service.
