GREAT NEWS
We have just received an additional $10 million from one of our Founders on the Amon G. Carter Stadium renovation. This new gift for the east side puts us now at $143 million on the project. A special thanks to Chancellor Boschini, associate athletics director Davis Babb and football coach Gary Patterson for an incredible fundraising job in bringing us even closer to our dream of a fully completed stadium in time for the 2012 season.
BUILDING TOWERS
With the safety of our student interns in our video operation a top priority, we are excited to announce that the generosity of the David E. Bloxom Sr. Foundation has made it possible for us to install three new permanent film towers on the Morris Practice Fields. We will no longer have to use any portable lifts. This completes the six Lester Towers and allows our video staff, student-athletes and coaches the best possible environment in which to work.
BOOKS CLOSING
We'll be closing the books Friday on our fiscal year and will have our final 2010-11 Frog Club giving total to report next week. It's looking like we'll have some terrific news to share.
AND THEN THERE WAS ONE
We just received a commitment for the last remaining suite on the west side of Amon G. Carter Stadium. The only suite now available for 2012 is the current athletics director suite in the south end zone. I can attest that it's a pretty good view and a heck of a place to watch the game. If interested, please contact associate athletics director Davis Babb at d.babb@tcu.edu or (817) 257-5658.
TICKETS ANYONE?
We're approaching 18,000 season tickets sold for the 2011 season. It's already the second-best total in TCU history. We have great momentum in our program and are well ahead right now of where we were on this date a year ago, en route to shattering our previous season-ticket record.
REGIONAL RECAP
While it was a disappointing weekend for our baseball team, we still have a program that makes us very proud. Injuries obviously were a major factor for us, but we were still able to win our sixth straight conference championship, top 40 wins for the fifth straight season, host an NCAA Regional for a third straight year and set a single-season attendance record. It's great to have high expectations and a passionate fan base. Special thanks to our staff, especially our regional coordinator Ross Bailey, for investing so much time and effort in putting on a first-class event. It was extremely rewarding to hear visiting teams, media and NCAA representatives comment on the positive experience they had at TCU. One of our goals is to always set the standard when it comes to hosting an event.
CONGRATULATIONS
Congratulations to Matt Carpenter on his recent call-up to the St. Louis Cardinals. It's amazing to think he was wearing a Horned Frog uniform just two years ago. He's a young man who truly defines what our baseball program is about.
SOCIAL MEDIA
We recently redesigned our social media page on GoFrogs.com. If you haven't had a chance to check it out yet, please click HERE. This is a great opportunity to keep tabs on the latest news involving our program and all our respective sports.
STILL IN SEASON
Our 2010-11 athletics season will officially come to a close this week in Des Moines, Iowa, at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Don't be surprised if we come home with a national champion. Keep an eye out for Whitney Gipson in the long jump as well as Charles Silmon and Jessica Young in the 100-meter and 200-meter events. Our women's 400-meter and 1,600-meter relay teams will also compete.
WELCOME NEW ARRIVALS
Over the weekend, incoming freshman student-athletes in men's basketball, women's basketball, football and volleyball arrived on campus and moved into their dorm rooms. They're already taking classes and working out with their new teammates.
FROM THE LINKS
We'll have two Frogs at this weekend's LPGA State Farm Classic in Springfield, Ill. In addition to former All-American Angela Stanford, Brooke Beeler will be representing us. Brooke is a rising senior and two-time all-conference selection who received an exemption to play in this year's event.
SUMMER CAMPS
We have a lot of opportunities for that next generation of Horned Frog fans to experience TCU this summer. A good number of sports have summer camps available for boys and girls of all ages. Please click HERE.
KEEP IN TOUCH
Please let us know if you ever have any questions or concerns regarding our program. This is also your program and we value your feedback. We welcome all calls and emails.
