POSTSEASON BASEBALL
Congratulations to head coach Jim Schlossnagle, his staff and the student-athletes in our baseball program on earning the honor of hosting an NCAA Regional for a third straight year. We're one of just six programs in the country to host each of the last three seasons. A major contributing factor is the support you provide our baseball program, allowing us to rank among the national leaders with an average attendance of over 4,200 per game. TCU is getting well known around the country for the type of crowds it draws at home baseball games. It's quite a statement when you consider we're in what's called a "pro" market.
TICKETS ANYONE?
If you're a season-ticket holder, you have until 5 p.m. today to renew your seats for this weekend's Regional at Lupton Stadium. Starting Thursday at 8 a.m., we will then have all-session packages available to the general public. At $60 for adults and $45 for youth (ages 3-to-17), this is the best value for tickets and they'll be in high demand. If any single-game reserved tickets are remaining after the sale of all-session packages, they will be sold prior to each game at $20 for adults and $15 for youth. All seats at Lupton Stadium are reserved. Once we're sold out of reserved seats, we'll then make $15 general admission standing-room only tickets available. These will be located on the grass hill down the rightfield line. If you have any questions, please visit our athletics ticket office in the Daniel-Meyer Coliseum or give them a call at (817) 257-FROG (3764).
PARKING CHANGE
As a heads-up for those attending this week's Regional, we will be charging for parking. It's $5 with only cash accepted.
THE WORLDWIDE LEADER
If you can't make it to Lupton Stadium this weekend, all games will be streamed live on ESPN3. We'll provide a link from our website.
FROG CLUB CALLING
With our fiscal year coming to a close yesterday, our final year-end total giving numbers for the Frog Club won't be available for a few more weeks. We're optimistic, though, about topping the $5 million mark for the first time.
BLANKETING TARRANT COUNTY
We hope you've enjoyed the 15 TCU football billboards we currently have on display in Tarrant County. More are coming, including some special locations we haven't hit before. We'll have our bus wraps debuting Monday.
APR WATCH
We previously mentioned our men's cross country, men's indoor track and field, men's outdoor track and field and men's tennis programs receiving Public Recognition Awards from the NCAA for their APR scores. Did you know our football program ranked first in the state of Texas and tied for second nationally with its single-year score of 997 for 2009-10? For four-year average, our 972 mark was fourth among the top 25 teams in the final 2010 BCS standings.
PREPPING FOR NATIONALS
Our track and field program enjoyed a successful weekend at the NCAA West Preliminary in Eugene, Ore. Three individuals and two relay squads will advance to next week's NCAA Championships in Des Moines, Iowa. Jessica Young and Charles Silmon will represent us in both the 100-meter and 200-meter dash events, while Whitney Gipson qualified in the long jump. We will also send our women's 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams to Des Moines to compete for a national title.
GO MAVERICKS!
Beginning with the accomplishments of our own student-athletes, highlighted by a Rose Bowl championship, it's been an exciting year to be a sports fan in the Metroplex. We saw the Rangers reach the World Series and a Super Bowl come to town, including the Pittsburgh Steelers training at TCU. We now have the Mavericks in the NBA Finals. We wish Mark Cuban, Rick Carlisle, Dirk Nowitzki and all the Mavericks the best in bringing our area a world championship. If you're going to an NBA Finals game at the American Airlines Center, you might recognize a popular Horned Frog as part of the atmosphere that evening.
KEEP IN TOUCH
Please let us know if you ever have any questions or concerns regarding our program. This is also your program and we value your feedback. We welcome all calls and emails.
