FORT WORTH - Tom Hoge was one of 152 NCAA Division I men's golfers named to the PING All-Region Team Wednesday. The selection marked his first career appearance on the all-region list.
Hoge joined 25 other individuals on the PING All-Central squad after tying for 16th place at the NCAA Colorado Regional two weeks ago in Erie, Colo. The Fargo, N.D., native boosted the Horned Frogs to a sixth-place overall finish at the event, falling only onestroke short of earning a playoff for the opportunity to advance to the NCAA Championships for the third straight year.
The 2010-11 campaign marked a successful final season for Hoge, who also was named All-Mountain West Conference last monthafter leading TCU to a runner-up finish for the MWC Championship in Tucson,Ariz. Hoge placed fifth individually at the conference tournament, his fifth top-6 result during the spring season. He posted his second career victory in late March at the Morris Williams Intercollegiate in Austin, Texas, and concluded the season with a career-low stroke average of 73.20.
Hoge's individual play helped the Frogs keep alive an impressive streak that has seen the squad advance to NCAA Regionals for 22 consecutive years, the longest postseason string ever for a TCU athletics program.
