
Beard and Scherer Compete in World Cup Competition

FORT WOTH, Texas - TCU rifle team members Sarah Scherer and Sarah Beard recently completed competition in the World Cup USA at Fort Benning, Ga. For Beard it was her first World Cup competition.
Scherer narrowly missed reaching the finals as she fired a 396 to finish ninth in the Women's Air Rifle event.
Not part of the actual event, Beard fired a 398 in Women's Air Rifle. She was shooting to obtain the International Shooting Sport Federation Olympic Games minimum qualifying score that must be achieved at a world level competition.
Competing in the 50 meter Smallbore Rifle Women's event, Beard fired a 571 to finish in 46th place at her first-ever World Cup.
Beard and Scherer will depart on June 10 for Germany for the World Cup Munich. Prior to the start of competition, they will spend five days training in Caldaro, Italy before heading to Munich for the World Cup which begins on June 18.
