COMING SOONIn the next few days, you will be receiving information concerning season ticket and Frog Club donor parking renewals for the coming football season. There will also be information on a pre-sale for the 2,300 club seats that we'll have available for the 2012 season.
FRIDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL
Our Friday, Oct. 28 game with BYU at Cowboys Stadium will be part of our season-ticket package. Club seats will be $65 with regular seats at $45. The student ticket price is $25. When single-game seats are made available Aug. 1, the club seat price will be $75 with regular seats $55. Be sure to order additional BYU tickets with your season-ticket renewal. Club seat prices are half the cost of last year's Oregon State game at Cowboys Stadium.
SUITES AVAILABLE
We still have three suites remaining for purchase on the west side of Amon G. Carter Stadium. Please contact TCU associate athletics director Davis Babb (d.babb@tcu.edu or 817-257-5658) for more information.
HARD HATS REQUIRED
If you haven't been by campus lately, please check out the live Web cams on GoFrogs.com for round-the-clock video of the renovation of Amon G. Carter Stadium. The steel rakers are being installed in the north end zone, providing a feel for what the new upper deck will look like. The pre-cast tubs will follow. On the west side, the concrete supports for the first level decking are starting to go in. Weight room construction is fully underway with the primary emphasis at this stage being the infrastructure with plumbing and electrical conduits being installed. Pier work and decking should begin soon.
NATIONAL EXPOSURE
Some great coverage is planned this week for our national champion rifle team. Both the New York Times and Wall Street Journal will have pieces on the squad as they look to defend their title beginning Friday in Columbus, Ga. Last year, we became the first all-female team in this coed sport to win the national championship.
CHAMPIONSHIP WEEK
We have four sports involved in championships this week. In addition to rifle, our women's indoor track and field team will be at NCAA Championship competition. Representing us in College Station are Whitney Gipson in the long jump, Jessica Young in the 60 meters and our 4x400 relay team. We also have our men's and women's basketball teams in Las Vegas at the Mountain West Conference Championships.
DID YOU KNOW?
TCU is one of just 11 football programs to play in all four bowl games currently constituting the BCS. During our proud history, we have played in the Rose Bowl, Fiesta Bowl, Orange Bowl and Sugar Bowl. The only other schools to accomplish this unique feat are Alabama, Miami, Michigan, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Penn State, Tennessee and Texas.
MORE TRIVIA
Our three baseball wins in Lubbock last weekend marked the first time since 1966 that Texas Tech had been swept in a non-conference home series.
A HAT TRICK
We have a full slate of home activities this weekend. On Saturday, you can start your day with a 9 a.m. home equestrian contest with Georgia at October Hill Farm. We then host the Miami Hurricanes at noon in a women's tennis match. As I'm sure you know, there's always free Mama's Pizza available for spectators at our men's and women's matches at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center. You can then make the short walk to Lupton Stadium for baseball. First pitch is at 2 p.m. for game two of the home series with Houston Baptist.
THANK YOU
Our student-athletes, coaches and staff are always appreciative of the great support you provide. We've recently had record-breaking attendance totals in just about all of our ticketed sports and are currently ninth in the nation in baseball attendance at 4,798 per game. We also had over 800 fans at a recent home men's tennis match with Texas A&M. It's very rewarding to have our athletics contests such a popular gathering place for the TCU and Fort Worth communities.
IT'S A SELLOUT
Our annual football team banquet on April 2 is officially a sell out in the Daniel-Meyer Coliseum. As always, this will be a great event as we honor an outstanding senior class and 2010 season.
KEEP IN TOUCH
Please let us know if you ever have any questions or concerns regarding our program. This is also your program and we value your feedback.
