
Frogs Ready to Take On Red Raiders Sunday

FORT WORTH, Texas - The No. 47 TCU men's tennis team hits the road to battle No. 19 Texas Tech at the McLeod Tennis Center in Lubbock, Texas Sunday. First serve is set for 3 p.m.
TCU (3-6) will battle its sixth ranked opponent in the last seven matches. The Horned Frogs come into the match after defeating Wichita State in Tulsa, Okla., 5-2, on Feb. 28. The backbone of the Purple and White's play continues to come in the doubles portion, highlighted by the No. 27 doubles team in the country, seniors Emanuel Brighiu and Christopher Price. TCU's top pairing have earned a 7-2 overall record this spring.
The Red Raiders (8-4) come into the match after dismissing No. 27 Tulsa Saturday, 5-2. After falling in doubles, TTU rallied to take five singles matches and garner the win. Texas Tech has two doubles tandems and two singles players solidly placed in the national rankings. The Red Raiders Raony Carvalho and Rafael Garcia are No. 21 in the latest doubles rankings with teammates Gonzalo Escobar and Vitor Manzini listed No. 44. Among singles players, Escobar the tops the squad with his No. 20 ranking and Carvalho comes in at the No. 25 position.
The Frogs have completely dominated Texas Tech in the all-time series, showcasing a 30-4 overall record against the Red Raiders, headlined by a 28-match winning streak that stretched from 1975 to 2001.
Following the action in Lubbock, TCU will travel to California to take on UC-Irvine and the University of San Diego, before returning to the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center to host Columbia (March 17) and New Mexico State (March 18).
