
Schedule Set For Rifle Championships

FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU women's rifle team is set to kick off defense of their 2009-10 NCAA Rifle Championship on Friday. The competition spans two days beginning with the Smallbore event. The championships wrap up on Saturday with the Air Rifle competition. Columbus State is the host institution this year.Sarah Scherer's defense of her individual title in Smallbore comes Friday afternoon. She will shoot as part of the third relay along side Sarah Beard. The relay is slated to begin at 1:30 p.m.
Caitlin Morrissey will be the Frogs' lone representative in the first relay, which is slated to begin at 8 a.m. Catherine Green and Mattie Brogdon will shoot side-by-side in the second relay, which will begin at 10:45 a.m.
The Frogs were crowned the Air Rifle National Champions a year ago and that title defense begins Saturday morning. Again, Morrissey will look to get the Frogs off on the right foot as she is the lone shooter in the first relay that starts at 8 a.m.
Morrissey and Brogdon will get the call in the second relay at 10:30, while Beard and Scherer will look to bring the Frogs home in the final relay of the day beginning at 1 p.m.
The finals for smallbore will begin at 4:30 p.m. on Friday and the finals for air rifle are slated to begin at 4 p.m. on Saturday. Only the top eight shooters from the entire field will compete in the finals.
