Mitchell Named MWC Pitcher of the Week

FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU freshman pitcher Andrew Mitchell has been named the Mountain West Conference Pitcher of the Week for his efforts in two starts this past week. TCU has taken home the award each of the first two weeks of the season.
Mitchell pitched 11 2/3 scoreless innings in a pair of outings last week. On Tuesday, the freshman right hander earned the win in a 2-0 victory against Baylor, limiting the Bears to two hits over 6 2/3 innings of action, while striking out four batters and walking three.
In Sunday's series finale with No. 12 Cal State Fullerton, Mitchell came away with no decision after surrendering just one hit through a five-inning start. The Houston, Texas, native struck out two Titan batters and walked three.
On the season, Mitchell is 1-0 in three appearances with a 0.66 ERA.
Kyle Winkler was honored as the MWC Pitcher of the Week on Feb. 21.
