FORT WORTH - TCU's No. 52-ranked women's tennis team travels to Dallas on Wednesday for a 6 p.m., match with No. 29 SMU at the Turpin Tennis Stadium.
The Horned Frogs are 1-2 this season, with both of their losses coming to ranked opponents. Most recently, TCU dropped a 6-1 decision to Texas A&M on Feb. 12. Wednesday's match will be the second night match of the season for TCU, which also played under the lights at the ITA Kickoff Weekend on Jan. 28.
The Mustangs are 8-2 this season and are riding a three-match winning streak into Wednesday's match. SMU downed UT-Pan American, 7-0, on Jan. 21, a day before TCU beat UTPA by the same score.
TCU's No. 1 doubles team of Federica Denti and Katariina Tuohimaa is 3-0 this spring and 8-2 overall including fall results since becoming doubles partners during the ITA Regional Championships in October.
The Frog tandem will get an opportunity to avenge one of its losses Wednesday, when they square off with SMU's No. 34-ranked doubles team of Marta Lesniak and Heather Steinbauer.
Gaby Mastromarino is 3-0 this season for the Frogs in singles, playing two matches at the No. 6 slot and one at the No. 5 slot. She picked up the lone point for TCU in its last match against Texas A&M.
Aside from being ranked in doubles, SMU's Lesniak is also the fifth-ranked doubles player in the Campbell's/ITA College Tennis Rankings. She boasts a 25-5 record overall, including a 7-2 mark this spring.
In the all-time series between the two schools, TCU holds a 26-18 advantage. SMU was a 7-0 winner in last year's meeting in Fort Worth.
