FORT WORTH, Texas - Sophomore Starr Crawford was named Mountain West Conference Women's Basketball Co-Player of the Week Monday. It is the first MWC weekly honor for Crawford and the second of her career.
Crawford opened the week on fire, leading the Horned Frogs with 18 points and 18 boards in a 71-64 victory over UNLV. By grabbing 18 rebounds, the Arlington native not only tied her previous career-high, but also posted her sixth double-double of the season. Her 18-board outing currently ranks No. 6 all-time in program history for a single-game.
She followed up her career-day against the Rebels with another solid performance this past Saturday against Wyoming. Overall, Crawford recorded a team-high 16 points on 8-of-14 shooting, while just missing her second double-double of the week with nine boards.
More importantly though, Crawford limited Wyoming's Hillary Carlson, one of the MWC's top-scorers, to only six points on 2-of-6 shooting. With the win against Wyoming, TCU is now in sole possession of second-place in the conference standings.
For the week, Crawford averaged 17.0 points, 13.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game.
The Frogs will next be in action at Colorado State on Feb. 16. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. CT from Colorado Springs, Colo.
