Kristen Hester knocked down 15 kills and Jordan Raines added 12. Megan Munce served up 43 assists. Sloane Sunstrum pitched in with eight kills and 13 digs. Sarah Joeckel led the Frogs with 22 digs, while Meghan Horio tallied nine.
TCU jumped out to an 8-2 lead in the first set, forcing an early timeout by the Aztecs. Igdoan and Munce blasted kills in the early run and Raines capped it with a solo block in the middle. The lead continued to grow as Raines and Igodan powered kills to push the advantage to 13-6.
A 4-0 San Diego State run prompted the Frogs to take a timeout, but the break didn't stop the Aztecs. SDSU went on an 11-8 run to take a 21-18 lead. Hester pulled the Frogs back into the set with two kills then teamed with Emily Kirby to turn the deficit into a 23-21 Horned Frog lead.
TCU couldn't close the set as the Aztecs fought off four set points to push the set to a 27-all tie. An Aztec block gave San Diego State its first set point, but Igodan blasted a kill to tie the set. It wasn't to be as the Aztecs put together a 2-0 run to close out the 30-28 set one win.
In the second set the Horned Frogs found themselves in an early 11-9 hole. Hester started a furious 7-0 run that put the Frogs in front by five, 16-11. She knocked down three kills in the run and Raines added a pair around two Aztec hitting errors.
The Aztecs were not going to be denied as they rallied to eventually tie the set at 18. A back-and-forth battle ensued with the Aztecs getting the first set point. Raines hammered a kill to tie the set at 24 and a ball handling error gave TCU its first set point. The Frogs couldn't close out the set and San Diego State took a commanding 2-0 lead with a 3-0 run to close out the 28-26 set two win.
San Diego State raced out to a 13-8 lead in the third set, forcing the Frogs to call a timeout. The break worked as the Frogs went on a 12-6 run to open up a 20-17 advantage. The highlight of the rally was three straight blocks by Igodan, Raines and Mattie Burleson. An attacking error by the Aztecs forced a timeout.
The break was all San Diego State needed to right the ship as it tied the set at 21 with a 4-0 run of its own. The Aztecs eventually took a 24-22 lead, but TCU fought off the two set points, tying the set at 24 on an Aztec hitting error. Back-to-back kills by the Aztecs, though would finish off the sweep for SDSU, 26-24.
TCU falls to 21-5 overall and 8-4 in league play. The Frogs will wrap up conference play next weekend when they host Wyoming and Colorado State. First up are the nationally-ranked Rams on Thursday night at 7 p.m.
