As a team, the Frogs totaled 101 digs, the fifth-most digs in school history. Along with Joeckel and Munce's dig totals, Sunstrum, Raines and Meghan Horio each picked up 13.
Igodan and Holland got the Frogs off to a solid start in the first set and the Frogs never looked back. Hester dropped in a pair of kills and teamed with Sunstrum on a block to help the Frogs to an 8-4 lead. TCU withstood a push by the Cowgirls that brought them within one, 8-7.
Munce and Raines got the Frogs back on track, giving the Frogs breathing room. A blast by Raines made it an 18-14 contest, prompting a Cowgirl timeout. The teams traded points with Hester giving TCU set point. Munce finished off the 25-22 victory with her fifth kill of the set.
A much closer set played out in the second as the Cowgirls took early control. An attacking error by the Frogs put the Cowgirls up 9-8 and they pushed it to 16-13, forcing a TCU timeout.
The break was all the Frogs needed to turn things around. A service error by Wyoming spurred a 5-0 run that put the Frogs up 18-16. Igodan, Raines, Hester and Munce were instrumental in the run. Wyoming rallied to briefly retake the lead, 19-18, but a blast from Raines and a block from Holland and Igodan gave the Frogs back the lead. Hester and Sunstrum locked up the 25-21 win.
After falling behind 7-4 in the third set, an attacking error by Wyoming put the Frogs on the comeback trail. Hester and Raines tied the set with back-to-back kills and a block from Igodan and Raines put the Frogs up 9-8. A back-and-forth battle ensued before a pair of blasts from Hester gave the Frogs a 15-14 lead, prompting a Cowgirl timeout.
Wyoming weathered a 3-0 run before finding its groove following the timeout. The Cowgirls went on a 6-0 run to regain the lead, 20-18. The teams would trade points the rest of the way, but the Frogs never recovered from the run and dropped the third set 25-21.
The Cowgirls fought hard in the fourth set to push the match the distance. TCU had the early control in the set only to see the Cowgirls break a 14-14 tie with an 8-3 run that would put them in front 22-17. A Frog miscue locked up the 25-21 set four win for Wyoming.
It was all TCU in the fifth set as it righted the ship to claim the victory. An ace by Hester broke a 2-2 tie and set the Frogs on course to the 15-8 win. Raines poured in two kills and a blast from Sunstrum made it an 8-5 TCU lead.
Back-to-back kills by Hester built the lead to 11-6, forcing a Cowgirl timeout. Three Cowgirl errors and a kill by Hester gave the Frogs the win.
TCU (17-3, 4-2) returns to action Saturday afternoon when it travels to Colorado State. First serve against the Rams is set for 1 p.m. (CST).
