DUBLIN, Ohio—TCU freshman Julien Brun recorded two straight rounds of under-par golf Monday to claim a share of fourth place entering the final day of the Jack Nicklaus Invational at Muirfield Village Golf Club. Brun sits four strokes back of the leader at -3.
TCU enters Monday's final round in eighth place among the 12-team field at +21. Tournament host Ohio State leads the field at -2.
Brun had a solid opening day following a rough early start, shooting back-to-back rounds of 71 and 70. He started the first round with double bogeys on holes 2 and 4 but was able to regroup from both holes with birdies. He carded seven birdies total while finishing -1 in his first round and four in his 2-under par second round.
Brun was named Mountain West Co-Golfer of the Month for September last week for his efforts during the opening month of his career. He has still yet to fire a score above par in eight rounds during his freshman season.
Junior Daniel Jennevret sits in a tie for 31st place at +6 following rounds of 76 and 74. Senior Johan de Beer posted identical 4-over par scores of 76 while finishing the day in a tie for 39th place at +8. Sophomore Ian Phillips, who is in a tie for 44th place, trails de Beer by two strokes at +10 following rounds of 75 and 79, and junior Eduardo Perez, playing in his first varsity tournament is 59th (+23).
Competition at the Jack Nicklaus Invitational concludes Tuesday, with first groups teeing off at 8:30 a.m. at Muirfield Village Golf Club.
