Sverrisdottir and Callens Named December Scholar-Athletes

FORT WORTH - Helena Sverrisdottir and Kyle Callens have been named TCU's Scholar-Athletes of the Month for the month of December.
Sverrisdottir, a senior women's basketball player, earned her degree in three-and-one-half years from TCU. The Harnarfjordur, Iceland, native was also the 2010 Mountain West Conference Player of the Year.
This season, Sverrisdottir is second on the team in scoring at 16.9 points per game. She is also second on the team in rebounding at 6.9 boards per game. She leads the team in assists and steals.
Callens, a senior diver, carries the second-highest GPA on the men's team. In December, Callens was named MWC Diver of the Week for the second time this season.
Competing against some of the nation's top divers at the Texas Hall of Fame Invitation, the Deer Park, Texas, native placed ninth in the platform dive and 11th in the 3-meter dive.
