Horned Frog Quick Notes
The Horned Frogs haven't lost a regular-season contest since falling to Georgia on Dec. 22. Overall, TCU is on a six-game winning streak and has won 30 out of its last 31 games at the DMC.
Senior Emily Carter has led TCU in scoring during 10 contests this winter. She has scored over 20 points in eight games and currently sits No. 23 in the NCAA in scoring.
Head Coach Jeff Mittie just captured his 400th win of his career against Wyoming. Mittie will be going for his 251st win at TCU Wednesday.
The Horned Frogs are 163-33 (.832) during the Jeff Mittie era when out-rebounding its opposition.
FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU women's basketball team will look for its seventh-straight victory Wednesday night when it takes on BYU at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum. Tip-off is set for 8:00 p.m. CT and will be shown live nationally on CBS College Sports.
The Horned Frogs are coming off an impressive 66-40 downing of Colorado State last Saturday. TCU, who held a 36-16 advantage in points off turnovers this past Saturday, was relentless on defense all day, forcing CSU into 31 turnovers, which is a seasonal-high for an opponent against the Frogs and the most since Utah had 32 last February.
With the win, the Frogs moved to 12-6 overall and 4-0 in league play for the first time since the 2005-06 season.
TCU will continue conference action at Utah Saturday night. Start time is set for 7:00 p.m. CT and will be shown on CBS College Sports.
The Last Time Out
TCU forced 31 turnovers and led the entire way this past Saturday to move its winning-streak to six games with an easy 66-40 victory over Colorado State at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.
The Horned Frogs controlled the game from the opening-tip, jumping out to an 18-3 advantage early in the game, while also holding the Rams scoreless for nearly 5 minutes of play. TCU held a 36-16 advantage in points off turnovers.
As impressive as TCU's defense was, the Frogs also cleaned up the glass quite nicely, out-rebounding CSU, 39-26, which allowed TCU to collect a 17-3 advantage in second chance points. Overall, Colorado State, who shot only 31.8 percent from the field, including 18.2 percent from three-point land, never led in the contest, while the Purple and White's biggest lead was 28 points.
The All-Time Series
TCU and BYU will be meeting for the 17th time in program history Wednesday night. The Horned Frogs have won two out of the last three meetings and five out the last seven meetings against the Cougars. BYU leads the series, 9-7.
The two teams split action last season with TCU claiming a 64-40 victory in Fort Worth before falling 70-65 in Provo.
TCU used a second-half surge to run past BYU at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum, 64-40. The Frogs led by only five at halftime, 26-21, before taking control of the game early in the second period with a 25-8 run to open the half.
In Provo, TCU trailed by as many as 16 points in the second half before rallying, but BYU was able to hold the Frogs at bay late to claim a 70-65 victory at the Marriott Center.

Scouting BYU
BYU, who's last loss came on Jan. 1 against Nevada, comes into Wednesday night with an 11-6 record overall, including a 3-0 mark in league play. In its last outing, the Cougars took down Utah, 68-50.
Haley Hall guided the Cougars to victory, scoring 16 points, while also chipping in with four assists. Jennifer Hamson and Mindy Bonham also hit double figures with 10 points each, respectively.
On the season, Bonham is averaging 11.7 points per game, while Coriann Fraughton has recorded 10.4 points per game and almost seven boards a contest.
Horned Frogs Sizzle With Starr
Since returning the Horned Frog lineup against Georgia, Starr Crawford has made her presence felt. The sophomore and preseason All-America candidate by Sporting News has posted double digit scoring games in five out of the seven contests, which has led TCU a 6-1 record and its current six-game winning streak. The Frogs have also out-rebounded their opponent during that stretch in three games with Crawford leading the way in boards during five of those contests.
Suffocating Defense
During the last four games, the Frogs have turned up their defensive pressure, which has helped them open the conference season with a 4-0 record. In three out of the last four games, TCU has held its opponent under 50 points. During that span, opponents have shot 40 percent or lower in three out of the four games. UNLV was the lone MWC foe to shoot over 40 percent with 41 percent.
Even more impressive is the fact that during the Horned Frogs last two outings, TCU has shutdown Wyoming and Colorado State, respectively, from deep. The Frogs forced the two teams to go a combined 4-of-30 (.133) from behind the arc.
Strong In the Mountain West Conference
Since joining the Mountain West Conference, the Horned Frogs have made a habit of opening conference play strong. The Frogs are currently on a six-game winning streak and will look to make it five-straight victories over MWC foes this Wednesday. Overall, TCU has now opened conference play with a 2-0 mark for a third-straight year. The Frogs last won three-straight games to begin MWC play during the 2006-07 season. In 2005-06, the Frogs began league play, winning five-straight.
Frogs Make It Four-Straight In The MWC
With its win over Colorado State, the Frogs have now won four-straight conference games five times during the last four seasons.
Hitting The Glass With Authority
The Horned Frogs held a 39-26 advantage over CSU, which moved TCU to 7-1 on the year when out-rebounding its opposition. Overall, the Horned Frogs are 163-33 (.832) during the Jeff Mittie era when out-rebounding its opposition, including 18-4 the last two seasons alone.
Headlines To Look At
When TCU takes on BYU, it will look to continue some impressive numbers. During the Jeff Mittie era, the Frogs are now 210-28 when leading at the half. TCU is also 121-2 when leading by 10+ at the half.
Overall, when the Frogs score 80+ points in regulation, TCU is 75-1 under Mittie. The Frogs are also 158-7 when the opponent scores 60 or less, which has now happened 11 times this season.
Horned Frogs Continue To Impress In NCAA
Through 18 games, the Frogs have done quite nicely among the nation's best. TCU ranks No. 59 overall in 3-point field goal percentage (.347). The Horned Frogs also moved into the top 55 in scoring offense, ranking No. 53 overall. Finally, TCU sits No. 37 nationally in free-throw percentage (.738), No. 43 in scoring margin (11.1), No. 32 Field Goal Percentage Defense (.355) and No. 29 Turnovers Per Game (14.7).
Overall, the Frogs rank in the top 100 nationally in 14 different categories.
Individually, Emily Carter paces the Frogs', ranking No. 23 overall in scoring average with a 19.1 average. Fellow senior Helena Sverrisdottir, who is No. 85 in the nation in steals, sits No. 92 in points per game, while averaging 16.3 points. Carter also sits No. 15 in free throw percentage (.888) and in the top-60 in 3-point field goal attempts per game (2.5). Finally, sophomore Starr Crawford moved into No. 59 in rebounds per game (9.1).
TCU In The Mountain West Conference
18 games into the season, the Horned Frogs lead the conference in scoring offense (70.6), defensive rebounds (27.6) and field goal percentage defense (.355). The Frogs also sit No. 2 in scoring margin (+11.1), free throw percentage (.738), field goal percentage (.424), 3-point field goal percentage (.347) and turnover margin (+2.22).
Individually, Emily Carter leads the conference in scoring average (19.1) and free throw percentage (.888). She also ranks in the top 3 in three-point field goals made (2.5). Helena Sverrisdottir currently sits No. 5 in scoring (16.3) in the conference. She also ranks No. 2 in steals (2.4) entering Wednesday. Finally, sophomore Starr Crawford ranks No. 2 in rebounding (9.1) and No. 1 in offensive rebounds (3.3). She also sits No. 3 in defensive rebounds (5.9) heading into action Wednesday.
Frogs Back On The Tube
When TCU takes on BYU it will mark the fourth time this season the Purple and White have played on national television. The Frogs have fared quite nicely during television games the last two season's, going 16-8 during regular-season play. Last season, TCU went an impressive 10-2 when playing in front of a national audience during regular-season action.
