FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU baseball team will host the second annual "Frogs for the Cure" Women's Baseball Clinic to benefit Komen for the Cure on Feb. 17 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Sam Baugh Indoor Facility. Join the 2011 baseball coaching staff and team for food, fashion and Frogs' baseball.
Cost of the event is $35 per person. All ticket proceeds will benefit the Susan G. Komen of Greater Fort Worth for the Cure to provide funds for research and breast cancer treatment. The event is open to all women ages 21 and up.
"So many members of our team have been affected by breast cancer and it has touched me personally. My stepmother and sister are both survivors, and I am committed to the cause," explained head coach Jim Schlossnagle.
"Last year was one of the most fun TCU events I have ever attended to benefit Komen for the Cure," said Betty Nethery, a breast cancer survivor and longtime Komen volunteer. "I am so proud of TCU's continuing efforts to raise money in support of a cure for breast cancer."
Some perks for guests to look forward to are: complimentary valet from Rent A Frog, a chance to take a round of batting practice, test your velocity on your fastball as well as a fashion show featuring members of the baseball team and the Showgirls modeling attire from Teskey's Uptown. Door prizes will include Nocona TCU Boots, American Express gift cards and TCU baseball tickets for selected series.
Special baseball "Frogs for the Cure" shirts will be sold at the clinic and throughout the season to benefit Komen. A video featuring the song "We Fight Back" by TCU singer/songwriter Tim Halperin and starring members of the baseball team will be shown during the evening.
Women wishing to attend can register online or call Meredith Montgomery. She can be reached at 817-257-5155 or via email at m.m.montgomery@tcu.edu.
