FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU will open the month of September with a home contest against Houston this Friday night at Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium.Following their 7 p.m. match against the Cougars at Jane Justin Field, the Horned Frogs will travel to Natchitoches, La., on Sunday for a 2 p.m. contest against Northwestern State at the Demon Soccer Complex.

Scouting Houston
Houston, who is 3-0-0 on the season, enters Friday's match having dominated McNeese State last Sunday afternoon, 6-0. Overall, six different Cougars scored a goal in Houston's 6-0 rout, including Lauri Byrne, who netted a goal and assisted on another. As a team, Houston posted 29 shots, including 17 shots-on-goal against the Cowgirls.
The Cougars, who have secured victories over Sam Houston State, Louisiana-Lafayette and McNeese State, are led this fall by Melanie Adelman. The senior has scored two goals, while also assisting on one other. On defense, Houston has used both Camille Koski and Chelsea Meyers between the posts. The trio has combined to save 10 shots, while also posting three-straight scoreless matches.
Houston, who is 2-0-0 on the road this fall, is currently on a four-match road swing. The Cougars join No. 15 Memphis as the only Conference USA school still undefeated during the early portion of 2010.
Scouting Northwestern State
NSU comes into its Friday night match against Louisiana-Lafayette with a 1-3-0 overall record. The Lady Demons will look to continue their winning ways this weekend after downing Southern University, 4-0.
Against the Jaguars, sophomore midfielder Marissa Lees led the Lady Demon offensive attack, assisting on two of the four goals. Overall, four different players netted goals this past Sunday for Northwestern State at the Demon Soccer Complex. For the match, NSU outshot Southern, 28-0.
The Lady Demons, who have posted 44 shot attempts this fall, have played two-straight home contests against Texas Tech and Southern, respectively. The Red Raiders dropped NSU, 4-0, on Aug. 27.
Scouting TCU
TCU, who is 2-2-0 entering Friday's contest, dropped a hard fought 1-0 decision to nationally ranked USC last Friday night, but bounced back to upend Sam Houston State this past Sunday. Sophomore Kim Castleberry scored two goals to lead TCU to a dominating 6-0 victory over the Bearkats at Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium.
The Horned Frogs, who didn't allow Sam Houston State to record a shot attempt until the 33rd minute of the match, continually pressured SHSU throughout the day, posting a 37-5 shot advantage at Jane Justin Field. Overall, 16 different Frogs recorded shot attempts, including seven by Castleberry, who just missed on several scoring opportunities early and often against Sam Houston State.
TCU has connected on 103 shot attempts this season. The Frogs' have scored a total of 13 goals this fall, while four different players have netted multiple goals during the early portion of the 2010 schedule.
All-Time Series
Friday's match against Houston will mark the 11th time in TCU history that the Cougars and Horned Frogs will face each other on the pitch. TCU leads the all-time series 8-2-0, but haven't faced the fellow Texas school since the 2007 season.
On Sunday, TCU and Northwestern State will battle for the third time in program history. The Horned Frogs, who lead the all-time series mark 2-0-0, last played NSU in 2005.
In 2005, TCU scored on a penalty kick to defeat the Lady Demons in double overtime, 1-0. The Frogs outshot NSU, 22-5, missing on several scoring opportunities.
TCU Firing Away
Four games into the 2010 season, TCU has totaled 103 shot attempts. Upon further review, the Frogs' are way ahead of their shot total from a year ago, which after four games was only 77 attempts. The 103 shot attempts after four matches is the most ever during head coach Dan Abdalla's six years in Fort Worth.
Houston Quick Notes
TCU and Houston have faced each other 10 times on the pitch. During their last outing, the two teams played one of the most memorable games in TCU history.
In 2007, Jackie Torda netted a goal in overtime off an assist from former Frog Michelle Nguyen to lift the Horned Frogs, who played the overtime period with only 10 players, to a 1-0 victory over Houston. The 2007 contest against the Cougars was broadcast nationwide on CSTV, which is now CBS College Sports.
Overall, the Purple and White have shut out the fellow Texas school, five times. TCU has scored 15 goals against Houston in the 10 meetings, including seven at Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium.
First Time Goals
Against Sam Houston State, three different student-athletes scored their first goal of the 2010 season, including two by sophomore Kim Castleberry. Overall, both Castleberry and freshman Kristen Barg found the back of the net for the first time in a TCU uniform, while Ashley Jones posted her first career assist last Sunday afternoon.
TCU has now had four different Frogs' score their first career goal during the early portion of the 2010 schedule.
TCU Games To Be Broadcast Nationally
The TCU women's soccer program will have two of its regular season home matches broadcast on national television during the 2010 season.
Both of the matches, which will air on The Mtn., will be produced by the TCU Film/Television/Digital Media department. On Sept. 12, TCU will face No. 20 Oklahoma State at Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium in a match that will be shown live, while the Frogs' Oct. 30 contest against New Mexico will be broadcast on a tape delay nationally.
The Mtn. is carried nationally by DIRECTV (Channel 616) and numerous cable operators representing over 200 municipalities in nine states.
Mountain West Statistics Update
Heading into Friday's contest, TCU currently ranks No. 1 in the conference in shots (103), points (34), goals (13) and corners (24). The Frogs sit No. 3 in the MWC in assists (8) and goals-per-game (3.25).
Individually, sophomore Kim Castleberry ranks second in shots-per-game (5.00) and goals-per-game (1.00), while junior Jordan Calhoun currently sits No. 2 in shot attempts for the season with 14.
Castleberry also ranks third overall in points-per-game (2.00) and game-winning goals (1). Senior Chelsea Cody is also among the MWC leaders, ranking in the top 3 in assists with two.
On defense, sophomore Kira Michelson-Bartlett currently sits atop the conference leaders in goals-against-average (0.00) and save percentage (1.000).
