POSTGAME NOTES
No. 4 TCU 45, Baylor 10
Fort Worth, Texas (Amon G. Carter Stadium)
Sept. 18, 2010
Attendance: 47,393
Team Notes
*Today's attendance of 47,393 was the second-largest crowd in TCU football history, trailing only the 50,307 for last year's Utah game. It was TCU's second sellout in its last four home dates.
*TCU improved to 15-3 in its last 18 games against teams from conferences with automatic BCS bids.
*The Horned Frogs are 6-2 in their last eight games against Big 12 opponents.
*TCU won for the 17th time in its last 18 games and is now 29-3 in its last 32 contests.
*Nine of TCU's last 10 victories have been by at least 27 points.
*TCU extended its home winning streak to 16 games. Since 1999, the Horned Frogs are 58-6 in their last 64 home contests. TCU hasn't lost a Saturday home game since the 2004 season finale against Tulane.
*Since the start of the 2005 season, TCU is now 26-1 in day games and 50-4 in Saturday contests.
*TCU took a 50-49-7 lead over Baylor in the all-time series between the schools. The Horned Frogs have won three straight games over the Bears for the first time since a run of eight straight victories from 1964-71.
*TCU scored touchdowns on its first five possessions.
*TCU's 558 yards of total offense marked a season high and its best output since a 578-yard effort in last season's 41-0 win over UNLV.
*TCU's 291 rushing yards also marked a season best and its highest total in a game since 355 in last year's 45-10 win at Wyoming. The Horned Frogs have rushed for at least 270 yards in each of their opening three games this season.
*TCU won for the 34th consecutive time when rushing (291) for more yards than passing (267).
*The Horned Frogs won their 43rd straight game when rushing for at least 167 yards.
*Neither team committed a turnover. TCU is now 47-1 when ahead (33-1) or even (14-0) in turnover margin the last six seasons.
*The Horned Frogs held a 36:07 to 23:53 edge in time of possession. TCU has won 43 of its last 45 games when leading in time of possession.
*TCU improved to 64-2 under head coach Gary Patterson when allowing 17 points or less.
*TCU recorded 28 first downs to Baylor's 15. The Horned Frogs have more than doubled their opponents in first downs (80-39) this season.
*TCU recorded three quarterback sacks and has at least two in each game this season.
Individual Notes
*Andy Dalton completed 21-of-23 passes (91.3 percent) for 267 yards and two touchdowns. The 91.3 completion percentage is a TCU single-game school record (minimum 15 attempts). Jeff Ballard previously held the mark after completing 20-of-23 attempts (87.0 percent) versus San Diego State in 2006.
*Dalton's 91.3 completion percentage broke the Mountain West Conference record of 90.9 (20-of-22) set by BYU's Max Hall against Wyoming last season. The NCAA record is 95.8 (23-of-24) by Tennessee's Tee Martin versus South Carolina in 1998.
*Dalton's 11 consecutive completions to start the game marked a career-best streak for him. It was also the second-best streak for consecutive completions in a game in TCU history, trailing only the 14 straight by Ballard against San Diego State in 2006.
*Dalton had 28- and 9-yard touchdown passes to Jeremy Kerley, giving him 48 career scoring tosses. Dalton needs one more to tie Max Knake (49, 1992-95) for TCU's all-time lead in touchdown passes.
*Sophomore tailback Ed Wesley had a career-high 165 yards rushing for his second 100-yard game of the season and third of his career. His previous career best was 137 yards against Utah last season.
*Wesley's 165 rushing yards marked the most for a Horned Frog since Joseph Turner totaled 226 yards in a 2007 victory at San Diego State.
*Wesley went over 1,000 career yards rushing. He's now at 1,037.
*Wesley's 49-yard first-quarter touchdown run was the longest carry by a Horned Frog this season and the second-longest play from scrimmage, trailing only a Dalton to Skye Dawson 52-yard pass completion against Oregon State.
*Wesley had touchdown runs of 5 and 49 yards in the first half.
*Evan Frosch and Logan Brock had 11- and 29-yard first-half receptions, the first catches by TCU tight ends this season.
*A 16-yard rush by Kerley on a 4th-and-1 from the Baylor 48 was TCU's first fourth-down conversion attempt of the season.
*Kerley tied a career high with six receptions for a game-best 69 yards. Kerley also had six receptions in the 2010 Fiesta Bowl and the season-opening win over Oregon State.
*Kerley was TCU's second-leading rusher with 49 yards on four carries.
*Luke Shivers 2-yard second-quarter scoring run marked his fifth career touchdown (four rushing, one receiving) on just eight touches.
*Ross Evans 23-yard third-quarter field goal was his first attempt and make of the season.
*Colin Jones and Tejay Johnson tied for the team lead in tackles with seven stops each. Jones recorded a career-high 1 ½ tackles for loss.
*Kelly Griffin notched his first career solo sack for a 6-yard loss in the second quarter.
*Jimmy Young totaled three receptions for 53 yards after having just one catch in the opening two games.
*Team captains were Dalton, Tank Carder, Cory Grant and Jake Kirkpatrick.
