WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- TCU's Ross Evans has been named to the watch list for the 2010 Lou Groza Award, presented to the nation's top placekicker.
A preseason All-American, Evans was a first-team All-Mountain West Conference selection in 2009. He made 15-of-18 field-goal attempts and set a TCU single-season record with 61 PATs, including 38 in a row to close the year.
Evans topped the MWC in scoring with 106 points while tying for 29th nationally at 8.2 points per game. The junior from Burnet, Texas, was a two-time MWC Special Teams Player of the Week, capturing the honor after wins at Virginia and Air Force.
In 2008, Evans was the lone freshman to be a semifinalist for the Lou Groza Award.
Former TCU standout Michael Reeder became the first sophomore to win the Lou Groza Award after kicking a school-record 23 field goals in 1995.
