FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU's senior Kelsey Huffman recently sat down with GoFrogs.com to share her thoughts on the upcoming season and much more.
Huffman, a Norco, Calif., native, received national seeds in both Horsemanship and Reining at the Varsity Equestrian National Championships in Waco. She is the only TCU rider to ever accomplish that feat in program history. Huffman finished the season with a 13-3 record in Reining, while also going 9-4 in Horsemanship. She was ranked amongst the top 10 in the nation during the course of the season.
What have you been doing this summer?
This summer I have been working at several different horse events. When I am not working, I have been enjoying riding my horse, going on adventures with friends and spending a month at my home in Southern California.
How do you think the 2009-10 Equestrian season went?
The past season was incredible since we continued to break records. It was the highest the English team has ever placed and highest place as a team in school history.
How do you feel this season will go?
I am completely confident that this season will be just as rewarding as last, if not more. We only had one graduating senior and we have several outstanding recruits to come in and help our success.
What do you like the most about Equestrian?
I love the challenge of Equestrian and I love what a humbling sport it is. I love how you can never stop learning in this sport. I also enjoy the challenge of working so hard to get to the top and with the blink of an eye you can be knocked back to the bottom.
If you could chose another sport what would you play?
Probably rifle because I would like to learn how to shoot and mount a sweet animal on my wall.
What is you favorite thing about TCU?
I love the opportunities that TCU has shown me.
If you were stranded on an island what two things would you need?
I would need my Bible and my cell phone.
What is your favorite movie?
My favorite movie is 8 Seconds.
If you could go anywhere in the world where would it be and why?
I want to go to Africa and help the less fortunate. I love kids and would love the opportunity to help them.
What is your favorite singer or song to listen to right now?
My favorite song is "Our God" by Chris Tomlin.
