FORT WORTH, Texas - Horned Frog junior Tassie Munroe recently sat down with GoFrogs.com to give TCU fans her thoughts on the 2009-10 equestrian season and much more.
Munroe, a Valley Mills native, helped the Horned Frog English squad finish in sixth-place at the Varsity Equestrian National Championships. Overall, TCU as a team closed competition in fourth-place at nationals, which is the highest in program history.
What have you been doing this summer?
I have been fortunate enough to have an internship at the Justin Boot Company. This has been an amazing experience working in this great company. It is an excellent place for interns to learn how to run a business in the western world. I hope to take these skills I have learned and pursue a career in the equine world. I have been showing and riding as well this summer.
How do you think the 2009-10 season went?
I could not be more pleased with how last season went. I felt that both teams performed very well at nationals. As an English girl, I could not be more proud of the accomplishments we had last year. Beating Baylor in the first round of nationals will be something I will always remember. It is one of my favorite memories.
How do you feel this season will go?
I think both teams will pick right back up where we left off. The English team accomplished a lot this past season and I hope we can continue to build on that success.
What do you like most about Equestrian?
Personally, I feel that I was born into the equine world. Both my parents are accomplished horseman, so it is in my blood. The connection between the horse and its rider is something that you cannot fully describe, it's truly special. Being on the TCU equestrian team was the absolute best decision I have ever made. Not only have I made lifelong friends, but I have learned skills and values that make me a better rider and person.
If you could choose any other sport, what would you play?
I played basketball in high school and loved it, so I would probably play that.
What is your favorite part about TCU?
I love the small school atmosphere. I have never walked into one class where I did not know at least one person. I think that is a really special attribute about TCU.
If you were stranded on an island what two things would you need?
Honestly, I probably would need my cell phone and my puppy Drover.
What is your favorite movie?
My favorite move is Sweet Home Alabama. I can quote the whole movie.
If you could go anywhere in the world where would you go?
I would probably have to say England. I am absolutely obsessed with European history, especially the Tudor Era. I would love to go visit all the historical places.
What is your favorite singer or song to listen to right now?
I love pretty much all country. I have been listening to the Randy Rogers Band and Casey Donahew Band a lot.
