FORT WORTH, Texas -- The TCU Athletics Department selected Nina Munch-Soegaard and the Men's 4x100 relay team as its Athletes of the Week for their recent efforts for the Horned Frogs.
Skye Dawson, Charles Silmon, Mychal Dungey and Mark Barnes clocked a seasonal-best time of 39.20 seconds to finish second overall in the 4x100 at the Texas Relays. The unit dominated the field on Saturday through the first three legs, taking the lead into the backstretch, but Baylor's Trey Harts outleaned Barnes at the line to narrowly defeat the Frogs. TCU's quartet earned runner-up accolades with the No. 1 time posted in the Mountain West Conference, No. 3 time in the NCAA and No. 5 in the world standings this spring. It is also the fastest time recorded by a men's 4x100 at TCU since the 2006 season and the second-fastest time ever clocked in Mountain West Conference history
Munch-Soegaard went a combined 6-0 on senior weekend as the Frogs completed their home schedule with three wins over Mountain West opponents. TCU's lone senior went 3-0 at No. 1 singles and teamed up with Maria Babanova to go 3-0 at No. 2 doubles to help the Frogs defeat Air Force, Wyoming and Colorado State. Munch-Soegaard is one victory shy of tying Angela Bartzen for the sixth-most career singles wins in TCU history.
