Cirstea and Raastad Collect TCU Weekly Accolades

FORT WORTH -- TCU has selected Marius Cirstea and Rachel Raastad as its Athletes of the Week for last week's respective efforts for the Frog men's tennis and women's golf teams.
Cirstea, a freshman from Bucharest, Romania, posted singles wins against Air Force and New Mexico to improve his conference singles record to a team-best 5-1 this season. Cirstea defeated Air Force's Taylor Soster 6-2, 6-0 in the Frogs' 7-0 win over the Falcons on Friday. On Sunday, Cirstea recorded the lone singles victory for the Frogs, topping New Mexico's Phil Anderson 7-6, 6-3 at the No. 4 position.
Raastad finished second individually at the Mountain West Conference Championships, leading the Frogs to a second-place showing. The sophomore from Asker, Norway, and the nation's 60th-ranked player, was consistent throughout the three-day tournament, posting scores of 73-74-74. She finished four shots behind medalist and fifth-ranked Jodi Ewart of New Mexico. Raastad posted TCU's best finish at the Mountain West Conference Championships since Valentine Derrey was the runner-up in 2007.
